Warm Michigan summers yield many delicious fruits and vegetables, many of which can be found at small local farm stands and large farmer markets. Both fruits and vegetables can be grilled and used in smoothies or salads.
Here is what is in season for July and August, in West Michigan:
July Fruits-Summer Apples, Apricots, Blueberries, Cherries, Peaches and Raspberries.
August Fruits-Fall Apples, Blackberries, Melons, Nectarines, Pears, Peaches, Plums, and Raspberries.
July Vegetables-Beans, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Celery, Salad Cucumbers, Greens, Eggplant, Lettuce, Green Onions, Sugar Peas, Radishes, Spinach, Squash, and Turnips.
